The Hudson Valley: Beyond The Big Apple

New York City is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world seeing an average of 40 million visitors each year. It's a vacation favorite for good reason. Its diversity and vibrancy make it one of the most unique and interesting places on earth; whether you're looking for Ghanian food to dance the night away with drag queens or to meditate with Tibetan monks you can find it and no one will stop you from diving right in.

Hudson, NY
Just beyond this bustling urban jungle exists an overlooked plethora of opportunity for exploration. The Hudson Valley and beyond is full of quaint towns dating back to the colonial era, the sublime beauty of the mountains and river, historical old mansions looming with secrets and occasionally a New Yorker that likes to smile (who knew?).

This week Backpacktress is going to take you on the train out of New York City and into the charming world that lives in its shadow.
