LA County: The Wild Westside

Just as the sun is setting over the Pacific, weed-smoking hippies of all ages emerge onto the sand for a primal celebration of dance and drums. Dozens of people in loose fitting clothing and tie die stand in a circle; some salsa, some clap, some bang on djembes and tamborines...everyone smiles. Energy pulses through the crowd as curious passersby join in for the fun. The only rule is that there are none. It's the Venice Beach drum circle and you can expect to find loyal attendees there every Sunday.
